Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park:
Great place! It's located in Grand Rapids which is a couple hours from us. We packed Emily up on a kind of cold fall day and headed out. She does so well in the car, we didn't need to stop. She did start to fuss a lot when we were about 20 minutes away, but we just pushed through and made it to the gardens.
There was a great display going on there for the weekend. The famous glass artist Chihuly. There was a ton of great glass work throughout the park. We just wandered through and took in the sights. Unfortunately it started to rain while we were wandering around, but we had our rain cover for Emily and we just put on our hoods and rolled with it.
I just love the Koi pond!
Here comes the rain...
Afterwards, we headed to our favorite hot dog place Yesterdog! I know I've mentioned it before. Soooo good! Last time we went Emily was a mere month old so we just ate in the car. This time we actually brought her in with us.
Man I want one of those right now!
Another fall favorite for us is going to the cider mill! We've been twice this year. Once last month as seen in my September post. My favorite of all time is the Franklin Cider Mill. There donuts and cider are to die for!
This month, however we decided to head to Yates Cider Mill. Another fan favorite for sure. It was CROWDED. I think we spent a longer time trying to park than we did actually at the mill. Jim waited in a long line to get the goods while Emily and I managed to find a place to sit and people watch.
Waiting for the goods!
Look at that crowd!
Next year you can have some!
Another great fun trip we had was a trip to Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad. They have a great little Halloween event where all the kids can dress up and go trick or treating through little stations they have set up in the antique village. It was a seasonably warm day however, so Emily and her cousins opted not to dress up. We had a great time just walking around and seeing all the decorations.
Entering the village
The spppooookkkyyyy railroad
There is then a train ride that runs through the neighboring town. Along the way they had set up a bunch of halloween decor such as skeletons and other ghouls and goblins. It was super cute and very family friendly. We would definitely do it again! The day ended with cider and donuts.
Away we go on the train!
So overall October hasn't failed me! We have done lots of fun things and are staying pretty busy. Emily had her therapy re-evaluation and things are looking good. She is signed up for one more month to keep things on track and to get that head to keep rounding back out. I am very happy with the staff and therapists at the Craniosacral Institute of MI.
Emily is a rolling machine these days, but only one way, haha. Whenever we set her on her back, within minutes she is on her belly....even when she doesn't want to be. It's annoying and funny at the same time when she flips herself over than begins to cry. I then put her back onto her back and what does she do? Flips herself over and cries.....rinse and repeat.
We are looking forward to Halloween weekend. We will be just relaxing, carving pumpkins, ordering pizza and passing out candy. Stay tuned for Emily and her fun Halloween costume!
