Milestones: Grabbing at things, smiling, sleeping through the night
Things are looking up.....just a little. By the end of month two, our little Emily was sleeping through the night! At this point she is still sleeping in a Pack 'n Play at the foot of our bed. With me breastfeeding and getting up at least one time in the night or early morning, it was just the easiest. Plus, I forgot to mention that for about all of month one and half of month two she was sleeping in her bouncer seat since that was the ONLY place she would sleep. I spent many a night hanging off the side of my bed trying to sleep and bounce the bouncer at the same time. Good times....
The first time she slept through the night, I woke up at our usual 2 or 3 am and was totally paranoid at why she didn't wake up! I made Jim go check on her and see if she was still breathing since he got up to use the bathroom! It wasn't completely consistent, but it was nice to see that she could sleep through the night and that eventually she would do so every night!
The little bundle we brought home only one month early was now finally starting to get a little bit of personality. She would occasionally show a bit of smile and was becoming a little less fragile. Her head control was already improving, though she was still a bit of a bobble head.
We started to go out more, visit the grandparents, spend time at the family cottage, etc. We even took a road trip to Grand Rapids to get some of our favorite hot dogs! She is and always has been a pretty great traveler.
Other "milestones" for month two included learning how to grab things and learning how to put those things into mouth.
Breastfeeding was still a major struggle. By the end of the month I was getting to my wits end....
June 7, 2010 - Yeah, it's no fun getting older....
Look Mom, I'm trying!
Uh oh, look what Grandpa Holoweski got for me
Sorry Emily, you're going to have to wait a few years....like 10 years!
Playing with Daddy!
At the mall with Nikki and Rosalie.
Swaddled in my bouncer....my favorite place to be!
This tummy time stuff ain't too bad....for now.
Getting a little better!
Trying to keep that big noggin up.
Month 2: Still rough around the edges and trying to get used to this whole parenting thing. Taking it one day (and night) at a time.
