The event was exactly that - an event! There were about 10 or so other babies also being baptized at the same time. It was done in a way that I have never seen before - full submersion (except the head of course). They literally dunked all the little babies into the baptismal font. It was quite a sight!
Also, Emily had the honor of wearing a baptismal gown that has been passed from 5 generations from Jim's mom's family. It was a beautiful lace gown. Emily's cousin Kathleen also wore it for her baptism.
We had sat through typical Sunday mass before the baptism which started at 12:00. Emily did great during mass. No fussing, just sitting/sleeping in her car seat. However, when the baptism started, we had to take her out of the seat and well, that's when she started to get restless. There was a lot of bouncing and feeding and shifting to try to keep her happy (and quiet). Overall it was a beautiful service and we celebrated with cake and refreshments with our friends and family at our home afterwards.
