Emily's Baptism

During "Month 2" we celebrated Emily's first sacrament.  Her Holy Baptism. Being it is such a special event, I decided it needed it's own special post.

The event was exactly that - an event!  There were about 10 or so other babies also being baptized at the same time.  It was done in a way that I have never seen before - full submersion (except the head of course).  They literally dunked all the little babies into the baptismal font.  It was quite a sight!

Also, Emily had the honor of wearing a baptismal gown that has been passed from 5 generations from Jim's mom's family.  It was a beautiful lace gown.  Emily's cousin Kathleen also wore it for her baptism.

We had sat through typical Sunday mass before the baptism which started at 12:00.  Emily did great during mass. No fussing, just sitting/sleeping in her car seat.  However, when the baptism started, we had to take her out of the seat and well, that's when she started to get restless.  There was a lot of bouncing and feeding and shifting to try to keep her happy (and quiet).  Overall it was a beautiful service and we celebrated with cake and refreshments with our friends and family at our home afterwards.

I'm fine, just leave me right here.

Time for cake!

Emily got some beautiful gifts to celebrate this beautiful day.  We are very thankful for all of our wonderful family and friends.
